Librarian Wardrobe

Not always buns and sensible shoes, librarians at various types of libraries have different styles (and dress codes). Check it out here or submit your own.

A couple of weeks ago I ran into a student in the cafeteria (it’s where I get some of my best outreach work on). She thanked me for coming to guest lecture for the Sign Language Interpretation program. What she said next really struck me.
"I remember your shoes, they made you seem trustworthy. I mean, sure I am always impressed by people who know their stuff and bring genius levels of knowledge - but the next thing I consider is always the shoes. I just don’t trust people with shoes I cannot relate to.”
The shoes in question? My trusty gray and sparkly-pink Chuck Taylors. Same ones that used to be in my LW Admin profile photo (seen here).
Remember that you don’t always need to wear beat up sparkly shoes - but you should wear shoes that are a reflection of your own authentic self.

Hello!I´m currently working as teamleader in our childrens department at Sello library. Sello library is the most visited library at Helsinki metropolitan area (we have 1,2 mil. visitors per year). Sello library is a public library located in Leppävaara, Espoo, Finland. My librarian wardrobe usually consists of jeans and t-shirts. Today I chose Happy Tree Friends -t-shirt. I like second hand clothes, in this outfit the only “new” purchase is the t-shirt, everything else is second hand. We also have a mandatory work-vest: black jeans-vest, which you can personalize with your name tag and different kinds of pins and patches. My favourite patch is “Library Warrior” patch, and I have passed out these patches in e.g. during trade shows and events. Peter Watts has one!Have a nice work week everyone! View high resolution
