Hi Friends, look what we’ve got for you at #alaac14! Our book cover artist Dorothy Gambrell of catandgirl.com has illustrated portraits of all authors, and Miriam Rigby has turned the drawings into pins that we will be giving away in Vegas! We also have general book pins (last pic) that are images adapted from chapter 8 on the cat lady librarian stereotype by Amanda Brennan and Dorothy Gambrell. Pins will likely be in a variety of colors, not just b&w. Collect them all!
Authors will have some pins with them if you hope to get one or a few, and we might be able to leave some at the ACRL booth.
If you haven’t already read chapter 1 and the foreword via the OA pdf copy that ACRL Press made available, check it out here: http://www.acrl.ala.org/acrlinsider/archives/8818. We hear it’s good!
At ALA, you can purchase the book from the ALA book store, and soon the online ALA/ACRL store will have the book available for sale. Once that’s up we will share, but the first copies will be at ALA in Vegas.
More info for ALA:
- Friday, 6/27: Nicole & Miriam will be at the ACRL booth (#1847) from 5:30-6:15pm to promote the book. Come visit us and say hi, get a pin! We’ll have a couple copies of the book at the booth for you to peruse. We look forward to chatting with you!
- Saturday, 6/28: Hit up the ACRL New Members Discussion Group panel where Isabel Gonzalez-Smith and Sarah Steiner will be talking about their research / chapters for “The Stories We Tell: Academic Librarians and Identity.” The discussion will focus on professional folklore and diversity within librarianship with the addition of two other panelists. It should be an engaging discussion!
- Saturday, 6/28: Join us at our book release party (as part of the After Hours Party with EveryLibrary) to celebrate! We will be doing a champagne toast at 10pm and are working on gathering (vegan + gluten-free) cupcakes or some other awesome confection to share with you as well. We have a limited budget, so desserts will be first come, first served.
And exciting news, we will be raffling off two copies of the book at the party, as well as one copy over Twitter! More details on that next week!
